A high number of studies have demonstrated that a diet rich in vegetables helps protecting your health. The benefits of fruit and vegetables are due to antioxidants such as vitamin E and C, beta-carotene and phenolic compounds.
Antioxidants contrast oxidation caused by free radicals, protecting cells and Dna against the degenerative process that leads to aging and other disease of adulthood. Actually it is not demonstrated that assuming supplements brings the same benefits as when eating fruit and vegetables. Moreover it is impossible to reproduce the same variety of vegetables’ healthy substances in simple supplement. Therefore supplements cannot in no way substitute a diet naturally rich in antioxidants, fruit and vegetables, cereals and legumes.
